Triangular box kites have been around nearly as long as the more well-known square box kite. Also, they have been used in similar ways. Winged versions for military applications came first, followed by a gradual shift to recreational use. The Conyne configuration, invented in 1902, has been widely used and can still be seen today in shop-bought Delta Conyne kites. Traditional triangular box kites are very stable fliers that suit medium to strong wind conditions.
